Although the schools in Iran haven't started, on
the occasion of the international day for peace and to commemorate
the victims of 1999 Taiwan earthquake, some of the Godsiye High
School students as a part of the NDYS2006 gathered together at
school to plant a tree in a unique global event.

They planted a cypress tree: an evergreen tree with dark leaves and hard
woods, symbolizing values such as freedom and resistance in our
literature. Our tree also reminds us of the past when the region
was covered with cypress once upon a time many years ago. It also
reminds us that it is essential that we have to make up for all
the trees we loose or use. That tree would be our contribution to
encourage and motivate everyone to care for our world. |
