our
warm hands to welcome
teachers and students from
many counties of Taiwan, and
from
such foreign countries as
Japan, Malaysia, Iran, and
Trinidad to participate in
this collaborative
learning.
Unavoidable
are natural disasters, like
the earthquake 1997 in
Japan, 1999 in Taiwan, 2003
in Bam, Iran, the
tsunami 2004 in South Asia
and the hurricane 2005 in
the Caribbean Sea, in
all of which the tortured
residents have severely
suffered the deplorable
situation of
“deprivation
of home and household”.
However, it is through
worldwide cooperation and
mutual concern,
and under the noble humane
spirit of “sharing bliss
and adversity together”
that the victims can
rebuild their homes.
I
am convinced that, under the
devoted instructions of
teachers, students will find
it
quite a valuable experience
to understand the property
of natural disasters, to
survey the
potentially dangerous areas
of the community, to do some
researches on preventive
measures,
and to work out
the practicable ways
of relieving victims of
disasters.
We advocate in the
conference the theme
“global vision, future
hope”, hoping that we
can
unite the youth around the
globe to create a unique
future for the world. Prior
to the conference,
I think, you have made some
online discussion over the
topic through the Internet,
and I hope
that you all can genuinely
reach the realm that
creativity teaching has no
boundary. Also, it is
my sincere expectation that
the collaborative learning
among international students
can
be continuously proceeding.
With great sincerity
I welcome all of you to
Kaohsiung, a city that is
full of beauty, warmth
and vitality.
I
wish the NDYS Conference to
be a great success.
