Countries & Regions participating in NDYS

NDYS began on September 1, 2004 (Disaster Prevention Day) with an exchange program involving nearly 1,000 children from 54 schools in Japan and abroad, spanning 15 countries and regions around the world. Through this program, the participants deepened their friendships and laid the foundation for the International Disaster Prevention Education Network.

To date, schools from 65 countries and regions have joined the network, and through “international collaborative learning”—learning together with the world—we are working toward the realization of a sustainable and disaster-resilient international society.
