iEARN Taiwan


NDYS 2009 International Conference was held  in Taiwan on March,
14-15, 2009Commemorating the 10th anniversary of 921 Earthquake in Taiwan in 1999.

Venue: National Science and Technology Museum, Taiwan, R.O.C

Participants:

  • Students and teachers of iEARN Taiwan Allied Schools (on the basis of 1 teacher and 4 students), and 200 people are expected. 

  • Students and teachers in Taiwan  who are doing research on natural disasters. 

  • International students and teachers (on the basis of 1 teacher and 4 students), and 100 people are expected, including Australia, China, Indonesia, Iran, Japan, Malaysia, Turkey, Russia, Trinidad, etc.) 

  • Professionals and experts from Institutes in Disaster-Reduction field

2008/9/22   Announcement of NDYS2009

 

                            NDYS Meeting

We are happy to announce that NDYS2009 is started from this September.
The Theme of this year is 
"Disaster Reduction and Climate Change."

With the success of NDYS 2008 in Trinidad and Tobago, this year's gathering will be held from 12 to 16 of March 2009 in Kaohsiung city, Taiwan.
iEARN Taiwan

The gathering of NDYS2009 is hosted by iEARN Taiwan.
This is the second time for iEARN to host the NDYS conference.
I really appreciated iEARN-Taiwan to take responsibility to host the NDYS conference.

Since 2009 is the 10th commemorative year of Great Earthquake in Taiwan 1999, and we are facing various disasters around the world, it will become a meaningful gathering.

2008/9/23 Japanese NDYS Ambassador, Kazuki and Hiroki Zendo attended the IDRC Davos 2008!
NDYS Ambassador Zendo family attended IDRC(the International Disaster and Risk Conference) 
held from the 25th of August to August 29th in Davos, Switzerland

We had an exhibition with UNESCO and made an oral presentation.

Kazuki and Hiroki Zendo handed the thank you message to the Chair person Mr. Amman at the closing ceremony.

Their work is remarkable.
We really thank their devotion to our project.

2008/ 4/30  "Natural Disaster Youth Summit 2008 in TnT" was ended in great success!

Conference was ended in great success. Students from local schools, as well as Argentina, Turkey, Suriname, Sweden and Japan, presented findings from their research on global warming, climate change and coastal erosion, as well recommendations for how to reduce the impact of natural disasters.

2008/ 3/25   NDYS Forum and Exhibition forum were held in KOBE.

"Gather student wisdom in the world on Disaster Reduction"

In 23rd of March, forum was held in Kobe.  Student from Yanagi elementary school in Nagoya, Miki municipal Jiyu-gaoka J.H.S., Takarazuka-Ryogen High School, and Kobe municipal Fukiai High School joined the forum from Japan.  Each of them presented their works on Disaster Reduction and Global Warming in the forum.    

Also, students from Taiwan, Iran, Turkey, and Trinidad andTobago presented their works on disaster reduction. They made safety map, safetybag, and so on.

 This forum is organized by NDYS, and it is the place for the students in all over the world to introduce their works of Disaster Reduction. 

 Students from Trinidad and Tobago, Taiwan, Iran, Turkey and Japan will present us their effort for Disaster Reduction.  Also, panel discussion will be held, and we can exchange information of each place.

This newsletter is edited by volunteer students from Argentina and Japan. They plan to issue the newsletter every 15 days.
