31 years after the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake
Youth Connect the future of disaster prevention.

NDYS Information Leaflet (Japanese)

Natural Disaster Youth Summit (NDYS) was launched in 2005, marking the 10th anniversary of the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake. Led primarily by children from Hyogo Prefecture who had experienced the disaster, the initiative began in Kobe, Hyogo, as an innovative digital learning project with the goal of “sharing the lessons of the great earthquake with children around the world and applying them to the future!

We will be moving forward with this project as we approach 2030, the target year for the international framework. Why not share your youth group’s activities in disaster prevention, mitigation and recovery on the NDYS platform?

Coexistence and promotion of sustainable disaster education from an international collaborative framework
We are working toward the realization of a sustainable and disaster-resilient global society through “international collaborative learning,” which enables students to learn alongside their peers around the world.
NDYS continues to compile and document the results of its practical initiatives, so please take a look here.
